New Year’s Resolutions from a Mom: Spend less time cleaning and more time playing

As we say goodbye to 2013, I’m sure you all are busy making your resolutions. You may be planning to go to the gym, start a fancy diet, or stop being lazy. As a mom of a naughty child, I must resolve to stop worrying about parenting. Yes, I freak out more than I’d like to admit. Recently, I’ve realized that my best parenting moments have come when I’m not stressed and don’t worry about my son. This year, I want to enjoy parenting without worrying about my son’s behavior.

Here are some other resolutions that I will make to be a better, happier parent in the new year.

I will not multi-task as much. Let it be if the house is a mess. When I have time, I will organize it.

I want to get my child to bed and awaken him earlier, particularly on the weekdays.

At least one meal with him. As working parents, we don’t have many meals with our son.

Spend less on useless things and save money for a family vacation. (Maybe to Disneyland?)

I will not shop after 9 pm if my child is with me.

Spend quality time every weekend with your son by taking him on small excursions.

Try hugging him if you feel like screaming at him.

Stop worrying about what others think of your parenting, and have faith in yourself.

Create an album from our photos (they are scattered throughout my home).

Tell him how much you love him and care about him.
