If you’re not familiar with essential oils, you must take the time to read Everything You Must Know about Crucial Oils. I break down the basics of what they are, how to dilute them, how to pick the best brands, and much more. Today, we’ll be talking about fundamental oil tips. Here are my top five essential oil hacks to clean using essential oils and much more!
Eliminate Shoe StinkIf you’re a victim of smelly shoes, do not be ashamed. It’s an aspect of human nature. There is an effective way to get rid of stinky shoes.
Make a few cotton balls and your preferred essential oil (or an assortment of your favorite oils), and dab 10-15 drops of oil on each ball. Place the cotton balls inside your footwear and leave them for the night. When you wake up, remove the cotton balls; your footwear will smelt of pure oily scents… And absolutely nothing else!
Insect Repellent
No one likes bites from bugs. That’s all there is to it. However, chemical-scented pest repellents that are toxic aren’t as effective. Make this homemade recipe instead.
Make yourself a cloth or a bandana (something you don’t care about) and apply at least ten drops of the following vital oils (or any combination that includes multiple), such as tea tree, lavender, lemon, or peppermint. Wearing the cloth or the bandana, you can repel bugs permanently! So, next time you’re hiking, camping, or simply sitting on your outdoor patio, you can make yourself an insect repellent at home and let the bugs flutter off.
Poo Pourri Spray!
One thing that makes us human as a race is that we all go to the bathroom. Even though we all use the bathroom, that doesn’t mean we’d want our bathroom to stink, similar to… doo-doo.
There’s a way to make it smell more pleasant, and that answer is my homemade Poo Pourri spray. Mix 20-30 drops of food coloring (blue or green are the best), 3 tbsp vegetable glycerin (or 2 tbsp), ruby alcohol, the essential oil of 40 drops, and 1/2 cup of water in the spray bottle of a small size. Voila! Poo-be-gone.
Car Air Freshener
If you’re looking to bring the beautiful benefits of essential oils when you travel, There’s a simple way to carry them in your vehicle. All you require is a clothespin made of wood, and that’s it. No paint or varnish.
Pick your favorite essential oil or blend of essential oils and put some drops on your clothespin. Only two or three dots are enough, and the aroma’s not ideal to overwhelm you. Pin the pin on an air vent, then start the air conditioning! In no time, you’ll be on the road while listening to your favorite music and inhaling your preferred essential oil.
Nail Strengthener
If you’re finding nail nails that are dry and weak, and you cannot get them to grow, then essential oils could be able to aid. Lavender oil and tea tree are potent; you can choose one or mix them. Blend 20 drops of the selected essential oil with one cup of Jojoba oil.
On the clean nail bed, you can apply a drop of your oil blend on each cuticle and gently massage it into the nail, working the oil through your pin. Make sure you place the drop directly on your cuticle to stimulate your nail’s growth. Naturally, this will take time; you won’t see nails sprout in minutes, but you’ll begin to notice healthier, stronger nails due to the essential oils you love.
Essential Oils and You
Essential oils come with a tiny note of caution. It is important to consult your health professional or a vet when you’re a pet parent to confirm that they suit your needs. If you’re nursing, pregnant, suffer from an illness of a specific kind, or take a particular medication, they may not be the best choice for you. Be sure to examine it before getting active within this EO movement.
